engine swap

I intend to swap the engine on my fto GS. But contrary to the majority of engine swappers I do not want anything too big. I was thinking rather in terms of 1.6 MIVEC (or preferably 4g61T) since it is more powerfull than 1.8. on the other hand it would be a hassle to reengineer all engine mounts so my question is, do u know any 1.8 engine more powerful than gs lump that will fit without too much hassle and where I can start looking for it.
I know it is a bit unusual post but, you see, my engine is dying on me, simply falling apart and I am fed up replacing it bit by bit, I decided to go ahead and swap for new one, or alternatively for the hassle free 1.8 DE2A if I can find one reasonably priced, but first I want to look for the options, and hear your opinions.
thanks lads, your support keeps me wanting to drive my FTO, it is a lovely looking and great ride car but is starting to give me headache.

Buy another FTO dude ( mivec it's a must if you want more power), they are penneys these days and you'll be driving in in no time without having the hassle to have the car off road for the engine swap . Plus i reckon you'll end up cheaper.

well, good advice, except that I am broke at the moment:( and I can swap engine myself saving on labour, really If I need to buy another car (I know it is a blasphemy) I would go for cheap fecking diesel, but then I will be missing my FTO fun specially that I put so much work into it already, it is fecking vicious circle

Indeed, even swapping an engine that fits supposedly well into another car can cause major hassle.

You'll also have to get the all clear from an engineer before your ins. co. even quotes you. And when they do they can charge whatever they like...

you'll be surprised , but buying an engine these days it's dearer than buying a complete working car .. mad i tell yea.


anyone know if a 2.0 v6 wold go easy into the gs?

It will not go easy into gs. not to mention that the gearbox is all diffrent as well, u can basically get any 4 piston engine 'box and connect it to any other 4 piston mitsu engine, the bell is the same, but not to 6 piston, obviously we are not discussing the sensibility of connecting 1.8 de2a 'box to any powerful mitsu engines (like 4g61T for example).
