Auto gear box oil

does anyone know the best oil to get and better still where to get it.

Dextron III rated ATF, any motor factors will stock it.

Either 75W-85 or 75W-90 GL4 oil will do the job.

how much oil does the auto gearbox take when your refilling it.im going change mine after the new year,along with engine oil.

It depends on how long you leave it to drain.

If it's just a drain and refill it will be about 6-6.5 ltrs but if you leave it to drain say 12hours overnight it will be closer to the 7.5ltrs the box holds. doing it the second way is the only way you'll get out all the crappy oil that usually stays in the capillaries inside the box

daz................it would still be ok not leaving it for 12hrs,just draining what you can and then refilling?................

Yea thats fine it's the way most garages would do it i didn't realise that the box retained so much oil untill i got mine serviced in camskills one time when i was up there for a visit, they left it to drain overnight as i was staying overnight anyway, they reconed it was a good thing to do every couple of years not necessarly every service.
