Alternator belts?

Postby andyahp » Fri Aug 17, 2012 7:44 pm

I've just recently bought a pearl of a GPX, sound throughout and really happy with it. Today, however, it was making a low constant squeal, best way to describe it. I had a look under the bonet while the engine was running and it seems to point to one of the belts. Could it just be purely down to the fact that it has hammered it down with rain today or is it one of the belts that need adjusting or whatever? Cheers for any advice.

See how it is over the next few days. If it continues, maybe some adjusting is needed.

I've just been out in it just to get fuel, a quick 10 minute drive if that and it seemed fine. I'll keep my eye on like you said as it may well need adjusting, cheers :-)

Belts might have gotten a bit wet. Put some talc on the belts and ya should be fine
