braking noise

Postby zinedan » Fri Sep 19, 2003 4:06 am

having crunching noises when i de-brake on trip gears and when i am just about to come to a stop.Theres no noise as im braking but only when i come to a stand still.I went to a mechanic and he tells me the brakes are fine but needs new bearing balls(????)under the car parrallel to the wheels.Another mechanic told me to change the front two pads and another mechanic tells me that u get that noise in all automatic cars,so there is nothing i can do.Any one has the right answers?????

If its any consellation, I have exactly the same problem, even after changing pads and disks. I'm unsure of what the issue is, but I was planning to have it looked at in the near future.

I used to get a noise from my old GS when you came to a stop when braking - usually when the car was cold. Mostly got this early morning on first drive. I think it could be an automatic car thing.

Same here, very annoying. The slower I release the brakes the louder/worse it is. If you find a solution I'd really like to know.

Dont know, I bought shanes old GS, never happened to me since I got it.
Got a squealing noise later on, but it was just the brake pads needed replacing.

P.S - Shane *coff* tyre *coff* :)

sent you a pm - i hang my head in shame.,........

btw, the noise could have been solved by the adding of additional copperslip whey the car was serviced before you bought it. I got so used to it I never heard it after a while - although the new GR makes it.... damn there's a nother job to add to the arb bushes, rear drop link bushes, sound proof boot, fix cd player, etc., etc.
