FTO Basic Service

Postby soc » Wed Feb 11, 2004 6:59 pm

I'm planning on doing a basic service on my GR in the next week or so - just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. I'm gonna do the following:

- oil change
- oil filter change
- coolant change
- spark plugs change
- check disks and pads and brake fluid

Is there anything else I should be looking at? What about the coolant change, what's recommended way to drain the existing coolant?

What about checking the belts - what should I look out for.

Cheers
Shane

Check all the fluid levels, condition of hoses, engine gaskets seals, just general observation really. As regards the coolant, remove the top of the
reservoir and then the radiator cap, it will mean the coolant will drain a bit quicker. The drain plug is under the radiator, just get under there and you should spot it. As Dean said, theres no harm in changing the fuel filter, they're cheap enough but its a female dog to get in at TBH.

cheers guys,

I'll go with all the basics then - check all hoses, brakes, gaskets and even have a quick squint at the belts. Then just change engine oil + filter and coolant. Don't think the plugs need to be done so I'll leave them.
