Is it just me, or......?

I changed all the plugs during the week. Put Iridium ones in. Acceleration seems much more responsive. Am I imagineing this, or is it just a case of wishful thinking? :?
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

It's not you... I put new plugs and leads in the RX8 2 weeks ago and it made a big different in the crisp response on acceleration from stop.

what's the general concesus on replacing the inlet manifold gasket? is it necessary. I have the plugs but no gasket, mechanic at work said he reckoned the coating on the gasket breaks down when you remove it and I'd be better off fitting one. I was gonna do the plugs this weekend but not too sure now.

I've replaced 3 sets of plugs on the 6A12 on have never required a gasket (I had one on two occasions to be on the safe side). The gasket can weld itself the head and rips when you remove the IM.

I'm a bit of a chancer so I'd be inclined to chance it ;)

That's the way i was leaning towards anyway. At least I can blame someone now.

I think there's an OE spark plug tool in the boot, how does this differ from a regular one? I have regular ones anyway, but just curious if it's somehow different.

I got my gasket done when I got the plugs done, just to be on the safe side.

Im not sure but apparently the oe one is narrower than the standard one...

i'm sure if you hold them next to each other you'll spot the difference.

Correct. You will seriously struggle to get a standard plug remover down the barrel, oe one is the way to go.

Did the job today. Don't see what the fuss is about!

The OE plug tool is narrower than my Halfords one, so hat explains why they give you one with the car.

Got a set of iridiums for it, can see a slight improvement in driving it, and it's idling smoother now.

All in all it took 70 mins to do it, having a good selection of tools and having taken the GR apart helped things. Took plenty of pics too.
