Presume you took out the AC fan as well Dan? - Its a heavy biatch and well worth the weight saving.

Nope - not much point having it if theres no AC and (inc bracket) its easily the heaviest part of the AC system.

have you considered changing to a manual GS or GPVR heater now that you don't have aircon?

Pointless considering your heating should still work as per normal without the AC.

I know it'll work alright, but there's little point in having climate control without air conditioning, and there's loads of weight to be saved (ask anyone with a GPVR ;) )

Cant see how you are goiing to save much weigh. The heater setup behind the dash is exactly the same. All you would be removing is a few electric motors and swapping for cables. Yes you would remove the cooling unit but only 3-4kg there.
Fan unit and damper unit would be staying.

Bulk of the AC/Climate Control weight is in the engine bay - not the control panel on the dashboard itself.

Presume there are actuators etc that the GPVR doesn't have. minimal weight to be saved I suppose!
