My new car..

Postby TopCat » Wed Nov 05, 2008 11:38 am

Well, I finally decided a while ago to put the GS up for sale (after months of debate in my own head and a final gentle push, you know who you are  ). At first I wasn't too pushed about selling, as there was nothing that caught my eye on the market, but that all changed last week. So, after some more agressive advertising, I sold the GS last night. Was genuinely gutting seeing it go, has been a great car for me.
But, I've moved on, and now I'm the very proud owner of...

Don't think I need to say a lot about this car, most of you will be familiar, some more than others.

Delighted to see this FTO back on the forum and with a guy I know will really look after it. Looks like a small bit of work to be done (front splitter, paint match on rear etc) but you should have a sound FTO there.

You'll also have a nifty FTO for any 1/4 mile / track days you might want to do.

Cheers lads.
Yeah, to be honest it does need a bit of work, but its nearly all aesthetic, she still feels very tight and runs very well, so thats a great starting point.
The back bumper isn't actually that bad, I think the photo made it look worse, but I'm still considering putting a DC bumper on the back, not sure what to do with the front yet.
One of the brackets on the front light is broken, need to have a look at that and see if I can fix it myself or else will be on to Rory. Centre console is cracked, but I have a project in mind for that anyway. I need to wire up the radio too (put back in Shane's one), and a few other bits and bobs, but nothing major, and I still think I got the car for a bit of a steal.
Have to say when you get her in the mivec range (overtaking only of course), my god does she move!
And yeah, I will be looking to put it back on the quarter mile at some stage, see if she's still the quickest about!

All you need is a turbo to go with the timer and intercooler!

Thanks for all the nice comments. I'd a feeling it would get a welcome return.

No way. I admire Dan for what he's doing, but its not something I'd personally go after.
As for the 1/4 mile, yeah, it still holds the title, but I'm not one to let it rest at what it could do, so I likely will be finding out if its still in the 14's as soon as possible.

Yeah, that will be interesting, but should be a hands down win for Dan.
Personally I would love to have seen what Dan's would have done with all the mods bar the turbo itself. A lot of work went into it and there's a shame there is no real numbers of what it (and potentially other FTO's) can achieve n/a.

Nice one Tom, glad to see this car back in the club, it was always one of my favourite FTO's, I'd go with the top mix front splitter again if I were you, it looked quality with that!!

Anywho, well wear! 8)

The variants of the Bozz front bumper do look very well - but they are also very low.

I'd also consider a HKS front end (a la Ivans FTO on here) -

or maybe a DC front to match the side skirts.

Yeah, I'm a little bit worried about how low it would be. How do you find yours to live with from day to day Dan?

I just spotted the above one for sale over in on the FTOOC site, so thats why i was thinking about it. Its the right colour and all so might be good value.
