wheel studs

Postby ftomad » Thu Feb 21, 2008 2:37 pm

The treading on one of me locknuts wore away so i couldnt take the wheel off to replace the tyres
I brought it to a guy and he drilled off the nut and half the stud, the other half is still on the hub, so i got the wheel off but im only running on 4 studs now
If i get a new stud can it easily be replaced?
Or should i just bring it back to the guy again?
All help welcome :)

saw some on camskill are these the right ones?

They're the longer ones, these are the standard ones.

You'd only need the longer ones if you're using spacers...

Never had to replace a Lug bolt on the FTO.
Had to do it on the Zed last week alright after some numpty in the Tyre Fitters broke one of my Titanium lug nuts and we had to drill it out.

The link you give is for the longer wheel studs - e.g. for FTOs with spacers etc.

This is probably what you are looking for - also has a diagram of the hub.

(Edit - Snap Bernard!)
Looks to be very similar to the Zed - lift off the caliper, remove disk and hammer out the existing bolt then replace and tighten just by putting a few washers around the new lug bolt on the outside and ratcheting tight.
Took all of 5 mins to do the Zed last Saturday.

BTW - Its likely that the FTO shares the lug bolt with a few other Mitsubishis so your local Mitsi dealer probably has one in stock for a couple of euro.
