Reading error codes

Postby Mustang » Fri Oct 16, 2009 1:36 pm

I've seen the link on how to do this posted a few times around this site http://www.ftowa.com/html/workshop/workshopart07.html
Baically just involves grounding one of the pines.
I came across this http://codes.rennacs.com/plugins/Mitsub ... lenger.php
Earlier which indicates that you just put a jumper across pins 1 and 4. This looks a bit simpler than the gounding method.
Does this second method work? Anyone tried it -or would it be for OBD cars only?

On second thoughts it probably just means than pin foor is the ground pin. In which case both approachs are the same. Anyone able to confirm?

Mustang, the diagnostic plug is mounted on a metal surround which is grounded, using this or pin 4 is a much of a muchness. It shouldn't take any more than 30 seconds (seriously) to ground pin 1, dead simple.

Fair enough -I thought I'd have to get a pin of some sort and solder a length of wire to it, to run it to ground. Sounds simple enough from what you say.
