Should I or Shouldn't I

Postby karlf » Mon Dec 01, 2008 11:50 am

Got some side skirts off of Maud recently and was considering putting them on. The only problem is I'm not too sure about putting them on as I've only got the original bumpers. (I intend getting new ones eventually) I'm thinking the height difference between the lower side skirts and the bumpers will look a bit pants. What do you think?

Personally wouldn't fit side skirts unless I had a lower front bumper or splitter to lower the front by a similar margin.

I'd say get a lip or a different front bumper..

and fit it all at the same time..

Thats what I was thinking. Its just I'm getting work done anyway and am getting the skirts sprayed at the same time. Just the idea of having them sprayed and sat in the shed doesn't sound too appealing.
Was thinking of maybe fabricating something like an extension to the original (by this I mean getting the bro in law to make it) Was thinking of asking bout a damaged bumper I might be able to make into something to fit the existing one. Might try posting see if anyone has one. I like the idea of it being a one off.

if you got the JDL skirts they are much lower than the standard pre-facelift bumpers that you have .
a font lip might help

also i think they bolt on the existing standard skirts !!

As far as I know it's best to remove the standard sideskirts before fitting them..
the front and rear add-ons required the original bumpers to remain in place..

Karl..if you're looking for matching bits for fron and rear have a looksie here... might be handier than making your own...

I'm liking the HKS front bumper (for the classic) at the minute - a nice clean, sharp design thats not too low for Irish roads.
