Dont do it man...for the love of your fto dont do it. That would nearly be as bad as strapping one of those ironing board spoilers onto the back of your car.

In two minds about these.. I think it might look alright IF it was only say 5-6leds either along the bottom or top...but most of the "kits" i've seen look like they're a mile long...and then you might a well chuck one of those xmassy lightropes in each headlamp unit instead..

I have a set of these Audi look a like leds. I got them about 2 months ago but I haven't fitted them yet. I tried to but I couldn't get one of the headlight units out because the front of the car was slightly twisted. I got the front realigned a few weeks ago so might give it a shout again.
I think they have the potential to look very well.
Does anyone know, if the headlight unit has been opened and resealed with silicon, can it be opened again by heating it in the oven?

It can be done Aido but its a lot more difficult. The old glue will soften up but the silicone won't (obviously). More force and and extra chisel may be required!

I would try prying open the headlights before applying heat as heating the silicone may cause it to harden, don't quote me on that thought. either way would advise a softly, softly approach. I personally felt more comfortable fitting new springs to my car than about the prospect of putting my headlights in the oven  I got a set of eagle eyes from FTOOC shop and returned them, cause I didn't want to risk puttin headlamps in oven. there were no instructions as to what temperature and for how long to bake them in the fitting instructions. IMO the new Halos by the same guy at FTOOC are much cooler lookin than Audi fairy lights

I've 'baked' lights on a number of occasions without any problems, it was discussed here. Theres no way you'll manage to prise the lights apart without heating them up first, the glue locks them solid unless softened up first.

I ordered the eagle eyes off FTOOC prior to discovering FTO Ireland and therefore didn't have the benefit of access to said information. As Aido mentioned he reckons his headlights have been split before and re-assembled using silicone not glue. You reckoned yourself that silicone wouldn't soften in the oven. I wasn't suggesting your wrong merely offering an alternative insight :smt023

you can get silicone eater which - as the name suggests - dissolves silicone.

actually getting it into contact with the silicone may be a problem, but it's worth trying.

it also won't damage the headlight.

He's correct - it was me that had it open in the first place!(to address leak in headlamp causing water ingress). The old glue is still in place and while softening it will help to split the unit apart, the addition of silicone sealent will make the job a lot more difficult. I wasn't implying that you suggested I was wrong BTW ;)

Personally, I'd buy another lamp unit before trying to seperate one thats been bonded with silicone. I'd also approach this mod with intrepidation!

WAY off topic , but are intrepidation and trepidation the same thing?
Google isn't throwing anything definitive up.

Intrepidation is a play on words (intrepid, trepidation), trepidation would be the correct term in this instance, a malapropism on my part it would seem...
