Importing from UK dealer maybe possible?

FYI. A company in the UK might be able to help us Irish lads with manuals. This is a copy of some emails between myself and a dealer in the UK. Still expensive, but an option perhaps.

the car would retail in the uk at around the £9000 mark, low mileage and
grade 4 plus at auction, as you know your VRT i think is 33% or was when i
last sold one there, so i will have to check availability and get a firm
price for you.
in japan the car would sell for at auction 750-850000 yen, well thats what
one with 30,000 kms sold for yesterday

I work that out to be around €17,169.40 which as you mentioned is expensive.

Have you looked into bringing across a uk reg car rather than one bought at auction. With the current exchange rate I am not sure whether its a good idea.

Just to give you an idea, when I bought mine, there was a black facelift, '97 GR/GX 2.0 litre not sure which one, but a tip with 27k miles (can't remember what km's that was) going for €11,995. The same car in a manual was going for €15k somewhere in Coolock.
