Centre console painting

Postby DirtyLopez » Thu Aug 02, 2007 2:47 pm

Hi lads,
Just as CJ`s interior has inspired me :smt023 I decided to do something similar. 8)
Just wanted to share effects of my work so far and collect some feedback on the color. It`s Vauxhals   Arden Blue pearlescent spray. I`ve just painted for a now, and waiting to put the transparent lacquer on it.
So? :D

I'd leave the Aircon console as it is. would look wrong painted. Are the reflections on the windscreen not a problem?

Nice - very blue..

did you have any problems with the paint stretching & cracking on the top half (the rubbery bit)?

well yeah... you have to be careful. Theres no problem with sanding ang primering but putting the color and then clear lacquer is a bit harder, especially lacquer as it is very watery and a bit to much in one place and you`ll get a beautyful fat drop.
I suggest to buy some spray and try on something useless (metal, plastic with wery smooth surface)

I stiil have some paint so probably will sray the dial surround but the bottom of the door panels isnt a good place for paint and lacquer... I noted that everytime Im sitting in the drivers seat my zip (or other hard parts)from the jacket would be scratching the surface. I was thinkin about some leather on the upper part instead :)
