Wheel weights

Lighter wheels means less unsprung weight = better performance. The rotational mass of a wheel is 4 times the actual weight when on the move.

The stock rims with Vredestein Ultracs @ 32psi weight in at 17kg. The next time you have a wheel off (stock or aftermarket), stick them on the scales and post up the details for comparison purposes.

Very interesting thread - its something that people often overlook when chasing performance.

My Zed had a set of 18 inch Rotas that weighted 8.8kgs (not including tyres). JayVR's 17 inch Rotas weighted just 6.7kgs (not inc tyres).

I also saved a couple of kgs on the Zed by using titanium wheelnuts all round - avail here - http://www.unit-8.co.uk/acatalog/copy_o ... heels.html
