Need LOTS of help - climate, dials and delimiting etc.....

Postby BIG B » Mon Apr 23, 2007 12:03 am

Lo all,

Just got my first ever FTO on sat morning!!!!!!!!!!! Whoo hoooooooo its sooo fast where have you been all my life lololol

Couple of questions tho,

On the climate control, do the switches light up? You know with the other instruments when you turn the lights on??? Mine don’t are they broke? Can it be fixed?

How do I take out the centre console? Is there a guide here?

Where would I locate a new look front bumper? Mines a 1995 model want to give it a face-lift. Anyone here got one they want to sell?

I take it everyone has delimited their car? Is the kit from camskill all I need and can I do it myself of have to take it somewhere?

Last question i just bought a set of ‘glow dials’ for when I get the car delimited they look a bit complicated to fit anyone here have them in their car? (looks like the dials themselves are powered and light up, so I guess no need for dash bulbs behind the dials anymore?)

Thanks for any help

Welcome Big B :)

I'll start off with the Centre console. Its easy to remove, just get you fingers down around the gear stick leather blanket and pop it out.
the bottom piece requires no screws to take out but the top piece does.
Easiest part to take off. while your at it give it a light sand and spray it silver... looks the biz:)

that works to remove the radio only. in order to change the bulbs, you need to get into the back of the climate control with something like a screwdriver or skinny thing to wedge in behind the centre consol and pull out. be careful not to scratch.hit the consol a light tap first as it could be just loose, happens to mine alot

you can de-restrict the car with a field mivec v-tec controller.

Ok just been out at the car. when i take of the lower part of the centre console (and much easier to take of than i thought) :D there is 4 screws at the top. 2 of them look like their for the top where the climate unit is and the other two for another part of the lower surround. do thoes 2 screws allow me to remove the top part? and when i get into the climate how do i change the bulbs and what bulbs do i need to buy (size wattage etc)?

Hey Big B, welcome to the forum...

congrats on your new motor! Pics always welcome!

On the climate control, do the switches light up? You know with the other instruments when you turn the lights on??? Mine don’t are they broke? Can it be fixed?

I'd have to say I don't think the switches light up, but I'll have to go out and take a look to be sure!

Keep an eye on ebay, probably your best bet, or alternatively jayfromukftooc does various kits - bumpers, side skirts, etc. - I keep getting his website wrong, I'll look for it in a sec. Steelroe breaks FTOs but usually the front bumper ends up in bits if its a crashed one so you'd be pretty lucky to come across one in reasonable nick.

I take it everyone has delimited their car?

Nope, no private road to be doing that kind of speed on!

Do a search in the forum, I think Maud_dib got a set not that long ago which sound similar.
