I picked the car up off Paul Nolan last night, I left it with him for a week to have the suspension sorted, get the tappets adjusted and have a cam seal leak fixed. As regards the suspension, the following was replaced:
All 4 dampers/shocks
Front bottom arm rear bush (extra castor)
Front ARB bushes
Rear outer bottom arm bushes
Rear inner bottom arm bushes
Rear camber bolts
Rear outer lower arm bolts
The front end is much tighter on turn in and more stable at speed due to the new bottom arm rear bushes (and to a lesser extent ARB bushes). The rear again is tighter and a lot less sloppy. The new shocks are performing well and the ride quality has improved quite a bit, the car is lowered with front\rear strut braces and still bounces around the road a bit as expected but I'm happy with the results. The new dampers are much more responsive over uneven ground and speed ramps. The rear knocking noise that I'd had to endure for over a year is finally gone, it ended up being a bottomed-out shock.
Paul tracked the car by hand but I still need to get it properly aligned (mainly toe-in). In saying that, I'm pretty happy with the results, the comfort factor while driving has risen somewhat, the chassis feels a lot tighter overall and handling and cornering have improved substantially.
I also had the tappets adjusted, the engine is sounding sweet as a nut and the annoying tappet noise on idle has now disappered. There was a leak on the cam box that may or may not be rectified, time will tell.
