Mounting a sub enclosure in the boot recesses

Postby CJ » Thu Jul 22, 2004 2:39 pm

I'd be interested to hear from anyone that have mounted custom sub enclosures in the left or right hand side boot recesses. Is it possible to construct an enclosure from MDF or is that a long winded approach? What sort of money would you be talking as regards having a fibreglass enclosure made to suit? the 10" sub + enclosure I currently have is mounted in the middle of the boot, with the rear strut brace and amps mounted on the rear upright section, theres little room for anything else.

THE PROBLEM YOU WILL HAVE IS MAKING A SEALED ( OR PORTED WHICH WOULD NEED MORE VOLUME !) WITH ENOUGH VOLUME FOR THE SUB
IT WOULD PROTRUDE INTO THE BOOT SPACE FROM UNDERNEATH THE REAR WINGS - LIMITING ACCESS INTO THE BOOT WHICH IS GOING AWAY FROM WHAT YOU WANT.
I FITTED 2 x 12" VIBE SUBS IN THE BOOT IN A CUSTOM ENCLOSURE BEHIND THE REAR SEAT ( WHICH IS FAR ENOUGH BACK SO AS NOT TO PROTRUDE INTO THE BOOT OPENING AND A VIBE RECTANGULAR 6x9" MOUNTED IN PANELS ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE, AND BY MAKING A FALSE FLOOR AND MOUNTING 3 AMPS UNDERNEATH THAT WE STILL HAVE ROOM FOR THE WEEKLY SHOP ALTHOUGH THE BABYS BUGGY NOW HAS TO LIVE BEHIND THE FRONT SEATS
I SCRATCHED MY HEAD FOR AGES AND THIS WAS ALL I COULD COME UP WITH TO FIT WHAT I WANTED INTO THE BOOT
THE ONLY OTHER OPTION WOULD BE TO USE FREE AIR SUBS BUT THESE ARE NOT A PATCH ON THE SEALED TYPES
