Electric Folding Wingdoors

Postby marty » Wed Feb 02, 2011 10:07 pm

Just wonderin if anyone has fitted folding wingmirrors to an fto with wingmirrors that dont fold? Hope this hasnt been asked before, think its only GS models and maybe some GPvR that dont have the folding mirrors, but im guessing that since the motor is in the base of the mirrors itself it should be easy enough to fit these and get a switch off ebay to fit them to. Just wondering if anyone's done it before?

You sure the motors are in the base?
Reckon you'd need loom, relays and new mirrors. Door loom may be different too. Wiring particularly difficult to get at from memory.

well from what i can see from this: http://www.zero42.com/fto/doormirrorfix.html, they seem to be in the base... so u reckon it'd be a bit more complicated than screwing new mirrors on and wiring them to a switch?!

First thing would be check the plug going to the mirror switch. Compare.

Same with plug going to mirror.

Can be done, not difficult, but bit of work involved. You need the mirror harness from FTO with folding mirrors, mirror switch and control unit and of course the mirrors. you will alos hav to cut into the contols for the current electric mirrors.

I have done it once before on a GS for a guy.

I have all the bits if you were interested.
