Could anybody tell me whats the best oil to use as my tappets are annoying and want to try changing oil before taking them out?

I use Castrol Magnetec 10W 40 anyway. Has to be a semi-synthetic.

Not necessarily, a fully synth oil is fine, you can also use 5w40 or 5w30 synth oils safely enough.

I use Amsoil synth oil in the VR4, it quietened the tappets down nicely.

I found the 5W30 very viscous though, seemed to run through the engine a lot quicker than the 10W40, once its checked regularly it wont be a problem but I wouldnt leave it run till the next service for a top up.
