Saw one for sale recently here that had '2.0L GX, none of the problems that are associated with the troublesome Mi-Vec'. Hmmm....

When I was buying mine a friend was trying to get me to pay more for a gr/gx than the gpx I opted for in the end as he knew for sure that the mivec engined ones were nothing but trouble..

thankfully I found this place & he was drving an exceedingly dull car at the time so I didn't pay too much attention to his stories of random cutting out.. turned out he used to own an actual mivec and had had the stepper motor issue but hadn't known how to fix it...

As for mad claims.. I think remember reading that that white stickered yoke (recently for sale as parts here) had been claimed to have 240bhp during a conversation in a petrol station.. I could be wrong tho..

was talking to some guy from the Sera owners club at the Rising Sun festival in the UK earlier this year, he was claiming something like 220bhp from a Toyota 1.5 with no visible mods.
From conversations with Colm from the Irish Sera register I gathered these cars don't exactly handle well or handle high speed (glass roof being the culprit here)
Despite this, UK guy told how he had beaten Evos etc. and that it handled great at 100mph.

The worse bit is that some people believe this sort of thing!

Haha, ya, but Colm in fairness nobody was going to back answer him either, he looked like a lad that was in the wars the odd few times, along with his mate. Think he said the plugs or something were done wasnt it? That he had no dyno but gave his word about the hp.
