bad noises and vibrations

Postby mick_dont_surf » Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:24 pm

95 gr tip
the woe was driving the car for the last few months. :smt018
as im on a long commute, so ive been stuck inthe golf.
anyway last week the car started vibrating when stationary,
i checked it out and was seriously low on oil. filled up
but didn make the problem stop.
so took it to local garage. the lad reckons one of the sparks
or wires is gone and one of the cylinders isnt working
(how likely is this) he said it was safe to drive

today is the first day ive had a good drive in it
deffo lost a lot of power, vibrations bad too
to cap it all off the red exhaust warning lights
keeps going on. (lower left) but goes off when
i slow down again.
could anybody help. praying for a easy fix.
car has already cost me 2 k this year.
merry xmas
mickey

Any sounds with the vibrations like a rattle from the engine or blowing from the exhaust?

I wouldn't drive it if it's misfiring, you'll wreck the cat. (maybe you already have?)

That doesn't sound like it's safe to drive at all.. If anything it sounds like the problem is getting worse from it being driven.
I'd suggest taking it to a different mechanic and don't even take your car to yer man again.

sorry for not getting back, but problem kinda solved itself
i realised that the vent system wasn taking air in from outside
just recirculating it around the car.
when i switched it back problem stopped immediately
so still not sure what was wrong

but no more noises, no more overheating exhaust,
car is running great. its now parked up till eleventh
when i have the dreaded nct, hopefully that will find any problems
ill get someone to look over the aircon when ever i get some money.

ill keep you all posted

thanks
