Alarm Immobiliser install

Postby Damo » Tue Dec 13, 2005 3:22 pm

Hey folks,
How much would you typically expect to pay to get an alarm and immobiliser installed? I'm being quoted €150 in Mullingar for the installation I'm not sure how good the guy is though it’s just a contact through a friend. Any recommendations on the best brand would also be helpful it’s something I would like to get done ASAP considering the amount of theft that’s being happening lately.

Is that €150 for labour only + the cost of the unit itself, or €150 all in?
I've never had to buy an alarm myself, but the last time I looked I got a figure of ~€300 fitted. I'd also be interested to know what experience others have had on this front?

I got an alarm + a separate immobiliser, installed and all for €550, 300 for the alarm and another 250 for an additional immobiliser. The extra immobiliser means that members of my own family who have been shown how to turn it off have had problems with it at first, which is very cool. 8) Even with keys in hand you may not be able to start the car.

Both are Meta.

I got these guys to come out and put my alarm in when i was in work. It was more for convenience as I bought mine with no alarm and was panicking to get one in quickly:

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine'.

This was the crowd I was referring to with prices around the €300 mark.

Thanks for the input lads, reading up on them it looks like META is one of the best brands. Unfortunately those guys in Dublin neither stock them nor will they travel to the Midlands, they will only do Dublin or North Kildare. Looks like if I order one and get this guy here to install it, it should work out around the €300 mark also.
