Not to burst your bubble but those open wheel cars were a big disappointment. The gearbox appears to be from a 1920's tractor, very difficult to get the gears, really took from the experience and slowed me down no end. There you are building up speed go for the next cog -no joy, stir it like a bowl of porridge -still no joy -here comes a corner try to drop it down to the gear it was just in. :x
The other thing is that the rev limiter is set very low on these, so just as the power is coming on tap -it's gone. Time for another gear change......

I haven't done Mondello but I've done Brands Hatch and Thruxton and the Formula ford or equivalent is always the highlight of the day.

Any car that I've driven has been fairly responsive (although rev limited) and brilliant fun.

They rev limit the single seaters on the clubman course - there are a couple of other courses you can do after the clubman where they remove the limiter.

I have a voucher I'll be using some Saturday in November - PAJEVO, JayVR and meself will be giving the Clubman a lash. If anyone else wants to tag along give me a shout. Would be a good reason for a meet.

250Euros CJ.
Its not a lot when you consider the amount of laps and tuition you get in the Rover GTI and single seater - and at least you'd be set for any trackday in Mondello.

I did mondello a few years back - single seaters.... it was great craic and you get a fair auld head of steam on the striaght.... just watch out for the 1st bend if it's wet.... I spin there. Also spun at speed when moving across after 2nd bend for line to 3rd.... great craic though!

I'm going on the Monday Morning (Open Day, 150 squid per car). Not taking my baby tho, going in my brothers Lotus Elise (Not driving, just registered as passenger), should be fun.
Will also get a spin in his mates cars - a Twin Turbo Supra and a Teg Type R.
Should be fun.

Well I did the clubman thing - and saw a spot o racing.. it was great fun..

A couple of things to keep in mind.

It's odd drivng with an instructor - I just didn't feel at ease AT ALL.
When doing the clubman cars are restricted at 4500rpm
The Rovers are setup just fine - BUT they're definately not racing cars - soft suspension all the way :-(
The Formula cars are GREAT fun - gear shift is a bit stiff & slow - but it doesn't matter all that much.
Brakes in the Formula cars are fairly crap - so those of you going soon make sure to use the warmup laps wisely - don't get caught short!
Oh and PRAY that you don't end up driving with people going into the gravel pits or hitting tires -the laps still count even if you have to slow down. Out of 10 lap I had one lap where I had a clear run. I did a 1.06 which is fairly poor, I was hoping to get under 1minute cause with the track only being 1440m long and not overly technical that is definately possible.

Was well worth while, had a good time - did really want to do more laps - the 10 laps are just enough to get started - I could easily have done way way more!

Afterward i caught some of the drifters warming up on a section of the circuit just next to the clubman course. Some crazy sideways action going on there. Broken bumpers - mud flying - impromptu doughnuts - YAY!
I only stayed til about 1.30 or so but I did catch the first time attack session. A pity we don't have an FTO team cause I saw a bloke in a kitted out Golf Mk2 also some guy in a Rover GTI (turboed). We couldn't easily competed there - also a few people ran out of talent in the corners :-)
