Coming into work this morning, driving along minding my own business when a truck carrying a digger on the inside lane of the m4 clipped a bridge, the result me who was just a small but behind it in the outside lane gets showered in concrete and oil,

Result me p*ss off the obvious one but more inportantly paintwork removed from bonnet and roof all the way down to the bare metal. along with a small dent the size of a 2 euro coin in the roof.

needless to say i pulled over and walked back up the hard shoulder to them who were inspecting there equipment, and thou there was not much they could do for me atleast one of them gave me their name along with the name and number of the person responsible for the claims department,

question is when i phone him later today will he say yes we'll get it fixed up or say f*ck off you can't prove a thing???

granted when i got into work i took another look around the car and yes it isn't as bad as i first thought but ya know your self the instant it happened the red mist came down and it was the worst thing in the world

Sorry to hear about your bad news but I shouldnt think you'll have any problem. Couldnt imagine a company willing to risk telling their insurance company a heap of lies.

Keep some of the concrete from the car as "evidence" if you can then. If they claim it wasnt their truck maybe it could be matched up somehow.

well if you have the name and contact details of your man then you shouldn't have a problem unless the guy just turns around and denies everything....... if they act the frolicks just say your handing it over to your solicitor, that should work!!

A bit late now I guess, but should probably have given the gardai a shout, thats why they turn up at accidents, to take notes and act as witnesses to what happened. That way you have an independent account of the accident which the insurance companies can't ignore, noone can turn around and say it never happened.

Sorry to hear it though, never any good when anything like that happens, especially if it wasn't your fault!

Unfortunately the best advice is always to call the Gardai straight away for the above reasons. With insurance the way it is you just can't take the risk. If it does work out okay in the end then you have been lucky but never leave from the scene of an accident because if it comes down to your word against his then you'll lose out. Insurance companies could go 50:50 resulting in you losing your no claims and some won't even ask you about this.

Yep the guards know spoke to them yesterday about it, I only got the voicemail when i rang the number i was given so i was slightly nervous, but i got a voice mag later from the guy he's out sick at the mo and only checking his msg's a couple of times a day, he was informed of the incident and will contact me again on his return,

I also took loads of photos of the damaged areas of the car while they were fresh so that if it does get delayed and they then say there old marks that they didn't do, well i'll have the proof that they did.
