Need some FTO spec

Postby Masa » Sat Jan 24, 2009 12:36 am

H iguys,

I'll need some specs if you can help me :)

I'll go back to France i nsome time and want to take the FTO with me,
but to register it there I'll need infos (they're feck annoying with that, it's gonna be hard)
already called Mitsu France who don't have a clue ...

so what I'll need : (in red the ones I can find alon :D )

N° de série de la plaque constructeur // Serial Nr on the manufacturer plate
N° de série gravé sur le chassis // Serial number embossed on the chassis
Poids total autorisé en chanrge // Total weight authorized
Poids total roulant autorisé // Total weight authorized while driving
Poids maximum autorisé sur l'essieu avant // Max weight authorized on front wheels
Poids maximum autorisé sur l'essieu arriere // Max weight authorized on rear wheels
Code modele complet // complete code modele (??)
Numéro moteur // Motor number (?)
Boite de vitesse mécanique : Nombre de rapports // Manual gearbox, number of gears
Boite de vitesse automatique // Automatic gearbox
Description des rapports // gear ratio (for a GS please)
Nombre de roues motrices // 2wd
Dimension des pneumatiques // tires dimension
Le volant est t'il a droite ou a gauche // left or right side steering wheel ?
Type moteur frappé sur le moteur // moteur type (embossed on motor)
Nombre de reservoirs // how many tanks
Le vehicule est t'il muni d'un pot catalytique // is there a catlytic exhaust?
Nombre de place assises // Number of Seats

thanks for your help !

if I manage to get it there and register it there it would be one of the less than 10 fto for whole france

Wow Masa thats some strange info they need for some parts!

I can only answer 2 I think,

Nombre de reservoirs // how many tanks - 1 (I assume its the petrol tank they are referring to?)
Le vehicule est t'il muni d'un pot catalytique // is there a catlytic exhaust? Yes

For this one;
Code modele complet // complete code modele (??) I think this may be the number that starts with DE2A, theres more after it but I dont know what it is for the GS, I am only guessing that this is what tey are looking for by full model number?

Dunno for the tanks as well, I assume it's gas ^^

for the code I don't have a clue ..

And that is just some info they ask, it's gonna be tough because though it's legally registered in Ireland which is part of UE, it seems that for them it's the same as if I wanted to register one coming directly from Japan...
And they are REALLY annoying regarding imports ...

Ireland is so more cool regarding this ..

Right now I'm gathering info, to know if it's possible, not too expensive .. well to know if it's doable or just a waste of time and money :s

Will you have to pay some ridiculous French equivalent of our VRT?

Finally, someone's getting more ripped off than us

OT but with a VRT of 6K on an FTO, I can't help but wonder what the average Romanian wage is?

nope, the only good point actually,
though it will be considered as coming from japan for them ( ... ) as it was bought in Ireland the tax was paid in a EU country and so no tax or VRT, nothing.

that's the only point where the french beats the Irish regarding auto import :p

BUT if the file I give them is not perfect or if they have anything against FTO they can ask for specific tests and the bill may go up to 2500 just for those tests (and they can ask to change some parts like bulbs, seatbelts.. for some authorized in France )

In that case of course it's juste a waste of money to take her back (though it'll be sweet, regarding the rarity of FTO's there ... )

sebastian : ya need horsepower (know it is 125 )

the thing that pisses me off ( and maybe it'll be different for me ? have to cotnact the administration to ask) is that this is set for people livign in France wanting to buy cars outside France, in EU, to look for something cheaper.
My situation is totally different, I'm living abroad, and just want to take my car bck home with me when I come back.

So option 1: it is different for me as I am an expatriate coming back (I can dream  )
option 2: same as the others, and in that case 75% chance to be screwed (no wonder why you can't see an FTO in france)

I'll mail this administration on monday, will see...
Only answer from Mitsu france regarding homologatio nwas
"we don't know, send us the file with 215 € fees; and we'll do it". so if it can be done, 215 €fee for nothing. That's not too much, but the main problem would be the car stuck in France and worthless :D

the registering sistem that's there it's different than here
the ''vrt'' is really called the '' environmental pollution tax '' and it's based on emmissions. we copied german polution scales ( non-euro , eur 1 , eur 2 , eur 3 , eur 4 .. and so on ) wich roughly puts the emmissions on a scale with the help of the catalityc convertor .BUT the FTO beeing a jap import , non present in europe they tag it as a non euro car and that's why tax it's so high .

i've seen a few fto's for sale in Germany ( www.mobile.de ) and they are tagged euro 2 ( how they normaly must be for having a cat and all ) but Romania doesnt do the test the germans do . i think it's called dynamic test or something .

so unless the car has a docket that confirms the pollution level (issued after a test by an european country ) you cannot prove the car's pollution class ..

hope it makes sense

the tax depends on the year and engine size .and there are a few more things that are taken in consideration .

nuts i know ..
only good news about a romanian reg is that the insurance is dirt cheap .
back in the day when i was still there i was paying for a golf mk1 gti less then 100 eur per year and i was 19 . now a regular insurance is not more than 250 eur .

and about the average romanian wage .. hmm last few years started to rise i can say .befowe we joined EU was somewhere around 300-400 euro per month now it almoust dubbled .
In a way the cost of living it's much cheaper than western europe but there are a few things that break the rule ( petrol is more expensive than here, second hand car prices is high and so on )

we try to cover all the bad things with beautiful girls and cheap booze

cheers guy,

just spent 1 week i nFrance and bad news .. as it was never officially sold in France, Mitsu never asked France to Register FTO.

So if I want to register it there, I'd have to pay for all the tests Mitsu should have down as the manufacturer (pollution measures, braking, noise, verify that EACH component is EC conform ..)

So anyway it will cost around 3/4 k € so she'll soon be for sale, and that will be a reluctant one ..

Stupid french laws .. no VRT but a feckin pain on the other hand ...
