Online checking in and ryanair

Anyone done this?
I wasn't sure before I booked flights to UK on what ID was required. Some said passport and others that a driving licience would do. Found an answer to this question on the FAQ's on the ryanair website. It says Irish/UK citizens travelling from/to Ireland/UK can travel with a driving licience. So I went ahead and booked the flights.
As we've no baggage with us because we'll be home the same day I went with the online check in to save time. The only problem is it asks for:
What type of ID being used?
Passport/ Identification Card Number?
In brackets under this option it says driving licience is not a valid form of ID. Anyone know what the story is with that?
Of course the helpdesk is closed and there is no way of contacting them via email. I think they do it on purpose so you'll have to ring the customer service charged at €1.75 a minute. And no doubt they'll probably leave you on hold for at least 5-10 mins before you get to speak to anyone

if you have a passport bring it..

I believe that if you're IRish or british they MAY let you travel on other forms of ID.

I managed to forget doing the online check-in but I simply used the check in desk instead..

do remember that you must be there atleast an hour before your flight as they have been known to refuse people checking in if they're late..

In my case they even told me to hurry to the gate..

so I ran like a muppet..only to sit and wait 20mins at the gate cause they were still getting ready to board..

they're well cheap tho..

Its just confusing. They tell you its ok to travel on a drivers licience, but then dont have it as an option when choosing what form of ID will be used when trying to do the online check in. Think I'l just ring them tomorrow when the customer service is open and confirm everything is ok to travel. Dont want to turn u for them to say we cant travel.
I have a passport myself its my cousin that only has the drivers licience. The awkward git

I though you now have to have passport for all travel with Ryanair.
Online checkin is brilliant. When I travelled to UK for the VR4, i flew from KErry to DUBLIN and on to Gatwick, only had 20 minutes between flights and not a prob as I had the boardings cards printed off.

If you look on the FAQ section it says you can travel with a driving licience. I had heard that you need a passport now but was told by a friend that a driving licience was grand. Still was't convined by him, but after reading on their site that you can I took it that they'd know.
It'd be just my luck that we wont be allowed travel if my cousin shows up with his driving licience.
