Id say the FTO would give that too a fair run from about 100mph on as the turbo just becomes an exhaust blockage!

MR2 turbo would be quicker regardless of mph incrediments. Plus I have seen these MR2 turbos modded to big power.

How (or at what point) does a turbo become an "exhaust blockage"?

When the turbo doesn't work? :-D

I was thinking - I've seen a couple of MR2 fly around the backroads out by Kilbride and they're well quick... One black little number - phwoar - looks nice as well I think - certainly sounds nice. The Big Airvent sitting on the side/roof give it a kinda odd slighltly menacing look - kinda like saying..

"mind your wee-uns, or I'll suck them in"...

I do think though that if we're talking a twisty narrow track the FTO might have a slight advantage over rear wheel drive non-traction-controlled MR-2 turbo.. If the FTO is kept in the mivec zone it's very quick indeed.

One of the reasons I bought the FTO is its free reving breathlessness

Any standard 2L turbos I have driven (not many) I have found to be fairly breathless once the mph are up.
I know that this does not sound feasible as the BHP is higher not just the torque so it should pull away regardless!

now I know that its a differtent animal and you must use the extra torque and not ring its neck.

I have never tryed this so it may be a placebo as the cars are going to feel different anyway maybe the FTO is just a bit more theoratrical and manic in its delivery?

However if its been upgraded etc thats a different story! But no doubt about off the line and up to 100mph it would abliterate it.
