Gatso Camera at Whitehall?

Postby mark » Fri Feb 08, 2008 11:44 pm

Passing through Whitehall today at the big junction where the church is and this new big white/grey thingy has been erected on the footpath. I think it's going to be a new speed camera, it's not fully finished yet but I'm pretty sure it's about to get a camera box on top.
Has anyone come across these anywhere else in Dublin/ Ireland- one's that work that is? They said it would happen....

I'm surprised these things haven't mushroomed up all over ireland like fungal growth they are.

Any larger town/city in Denmark has them - even on larger & ring roads where accidents hardly ever occur - money makers it's all they are.. they should only be put up around accident black-spots if you ask me..

Irelands' often quite slow to get things started and this is one of those rare occasions that I'm really happy about that- well not any more.

That reminds me - there's one that looks like it was burnt down just outside balbriggan -going towards drogheda...I'm guessing somebody got "flashed" and wasn't best pleased..

Yeah there are a few of that old style one around the old Dublin Road. I think most were dummies though, bar the odd one. The boxes were removed about 6 months ago so I thought they were going to put 'real' ones up instead.

Remeber driving around Luton one weekend with a lad who was living there for a few years, was very wary of the cameras, but I noticed that some had a sign a bit ahead saying cameras ahead, asked him why and he said they were the dummy ones, its the ones that have no sign warning you to watch out for. Made sense to me.
