You would really need to see the back of the repeaters to hazard a guess, there is a lip on the original ones that needs to be in place for the repeater to stay put. In saying that, I've superglued them on as a result of breaking the lip during fitting and it stayed in place fine!

Bought a set of clear repeaters for the RS roadster recently but when I went to fit them last night - I found myself heading towards the FTO as it looked like it needed them more (I'm pretty sure the car winked at me!)-
Anyway (wheres that coffee?) I took out the old faded orange indicators - no easy task - found theres just one clip at the bottom that needs to be pushed up and they'll pop out - bit of a risk of breaking the plastic surround on the indicator even though I used a flat head with masking tape wrapped around it to prevent paint damage.

The problem arises when the MX5 backing has a 9/12/3 oclock pattern while the FTO's is an 8/12/4 oclock pattern. I trimmed each one of the three notches and with a bit of impact engineering and a little superglue (just in case) - stuck it back on with some adhesive sealant all around the perimeter of the repeater.

Above took about 10mins - looks the business (the repeaters are v high quality) - but I would not recommend this as an alternative to buying the funky product repeaters. Though at just 29.95GBP - these were considerably cheaper and they do look better IMO. However it has to be sealed as the fitting on the back of the MX5 indicator does not suit the FTO.

Have pictures - but I don't know how to put them up!

You'll need to host them elsewhere and use [IMG] tags in the post, alternatively, mail 'em to me and I'll oblige.

Well - you did suggest it when I picked my exhaust up from you - once I send CJ the pictures and he hosts it for me - you can have a look - the only problem is that they don't really fit properly in the recess and hence are not flush with the bodywork - but I wouldn't take them off again for the Roadster - they still look much better than standard - though the chrome surround suits the steel silver - I probably wouldn't put them on a red or white FTO. Black,Steel Silver, Burgandy and Blue would be fine - esp if the FTO had Chrome alloys. Maybe I'm getting a bit fussy here - I'll let you make up your own mind when you see the pictures.

If they're not flush are you likely to have a problem with leaks when it rains?

Look well though!

Leaks wont be a problem as the wunit is sealed once the lamp holder is in.

That and the fact I have put sealant all around the perimeter of the unit - this is needed to ensure it stays on as well as keeping it watertight - I've also angled the lens in slightly at the top so that water won't get in at the top of the unit.

But like I said before - I'm not recommending that anybody should go down this route - I'm sure the Funky D speed indicators are a far better fit - the MX5 lights are designed to sit on the bodywork of an MX5 rather than in a recess. No problem with regards watertightness - but you do need an adhesive sealant to ensure the indicator stays put.
