thanks for your reply d_dan, PM sent.

I forgot to add that I am currently discussing matters of leather interior and wheels with another forum member already. They're not sold yet though. Thanks

Someone is actually going to buy the leather interior for that price
I would have been interested in them, but no way would I pay that much for them.

I think because everything is as an exchange basis & Color dependent in some cases that its going to be hard enough to sell some parts. Especially at the prices hes looking for.
Best of luck bart,
And my offer still stands at €200 and a genuine red OEM spoiler but im not going to the €250 mark and providing a matching spoiler in return too as they are available new for not all that much more & less hastle.

Best of luck with the sale of the parts and car But i would take a price you are happy with for parts and you know you will sell them at rather than being stuck with them over someone else's oppinion's

Bart , advertise the parts elswere also , there are guys who own FTO's and not bothered about internet forums .

I would advise you find a cheap as chips breaker to get the standard parts( a few guys on here have a few bits) , as getting some cash and a standard part for an upgrade part won't make you a rich man .

Wow, when going to bed last night I wasn't expecting this thread would produce any heat at all - what a surprise :D K, back to topic on hand:

Sebastian I will follow your advice and perhaps advertise on DoneDeal as well - I'll shoot some pictures and prep an ad later. I will also try to locate the swap parts myself and get them from my own pocket.

I will update my first post with all the changes.

By the way, what would you think about removing the rear spoiler altogether? I've seen a pic of a black FTO with no wing in the back and I have to say it looks clean and... interesting. What do you think?

Lads, I've tidied up the thread and brought it back on topic.
Keep it friendly.

Bart,
Removing the spoiler is an option, it wouldn't be the look I'd go for myself but others have done it and it has worked well.
Bear in mind though that the holes left behind would need to be filled and painted, not ideal if you're selling.

I see. Well there are plastic (or rubber) bolts that go into the holes and cover them in a neat fashion, but 'neat' is a relative term I suppose. Also these can't be used if the paint surface underneath the spoiler is bad or the holes drilled are not clean and even. It seems I just have to remove the wing and see for myself - if these plastic covers wouldn't solve the problem I'd be forced to send the car for some welding and painting, or getting an OE spoiler.

My life just got that bit easier.

I wouldn't sell the bonnet or spoiler if I were you. You'll never get a matching bonnet for less than the price of the carbon bonnet.

Spoiler maybe if you get a matching one that leaves no holes showing.

I'm already talking to some guys here and I might be able to get an OE bonnet that is cheap enough, same goes for spoiler. I'm a bit worried about hole pattern though. I have a Version R spoiler as far as I know, and I would like to get an OE regular spoiler on. Does any of you know whether they use same fitting pattern?

A bonnet will be unlikely to match, even oe. Most ftos have had repairs at this stage so you'll more than likely end up having to spray the bonnet and portion of the wings to match it it. Selling parts is all well and good, but you're risking making the car unsaleable if you have mismatched body panels.

I think you should leave the car as it is, and just bring the price down closer to the €2000 mark.
Its a clean car and everything but unfortunatly the styling is about 5 years out of date with the black bonnet etc.
You wont really get away with changing them either as red paint fades really badly, and any donor bonnet or wing is going to be a completly shade, especially as the car has been resprayed before.

All OE spoilers have same fittings .

IMO the car as stands worths much more then the 2 k mark .Best of luck with the sale.

At 2k, I would consider buying it myself. I have to say, I would prefer original bonnet and spoiler though. I'm not into the carbon thing. I would need to have a buyer for my own fto though. When I am finished with it, it will be lookin damn sweet i think.

@colm I have a black bonnet targeted atm - it's supposedly in good shape, with no damage to the paint except for surface, which I belive I'll be able to bring to shape with Farecla G3 and polisher. Otherwise I'll get it sprayed at my friend's garage. It's good you pointed it out though, I'll defo keep it in mind.

Smac you're breaking my heart, that black bonnet + spoiler style is passe? I dare to disagree! I'm far from saying that frequency and lenght of pedestrians' glances/stares is a good measurement of the car being stylish, but... I sort of actually do! :D Plus, my friends (critical lot) say they like the looks. Seems the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Also, asking ~2 grand for it? I understand that the market/demand dictates prices, but if I were to get that little for that much I suppose I'd prefer to keep the car (popular conclusion amongst owners of hard-to-sell cars I noticed  ).

Sebastian thanks for clarifying that matter with hole pattern. AND for the rest :D

Goz I hope to get the price down to around 2000 since I'm following MFFto's advice, but some extras would be gone from the car unfortunately.

And Dan. I'll just smile. In a really friendly manner, mind you :)

I suppose we will just see what happens. I wouldn't mind the bonnet and spoiler being replaced with originals in good matching condition (not obviously replaced as the car was resprayed). If anything else were to be taken out though, i'm afraid I would personally have no interest, because I am what you might call "one of the fussiest fcuckers you will ever meet", but I am a reasonable person.

Market demand values a car, not the love of the owner. My jap import 318iSE (2001) was nicked from my driveway last year. It was special, with all the extras, plus plenty of cash I put into her myself. I refused to sell to a guy offering 10k, when I wanted 11k a few months before it was taken. The insurance paid half that!! I was gutted twice. I now wonder why the hell insurers ask for value, when all they will do is pay out what a little blue book tells them to if your pride and joy is snatched. I would also need to be considering the additional insurance costs of a Mivec. Anyone know what the percentage usually is? I'm currently paying approx €710 on the GR. For some reason they added €80 onto the price when i switched from a 95 GR valued at 2k, to a 94 GR valued at 1k. Crazy stuff.

Back to topic....I will keep going ahead with my own plans on my GR for now. First step, get facelift bumper from Gerry. Then fully service oils and sparks and change timing belt. Then underseal. Then leatherette seats and some shiny bits in between. Money being tight slows me down, plus the front garden is being done at the moment (no dirty thoughts :k )

I found a japanese coin under the rear seat when I was doing some work in the car. Thought it was really cool finding a bit of cultural history. I am wondering how i might incorporate the coin (looks like a penny) into the car. Needs some cillit banging before i do though :)

@ d-dan: If i do end up with Bartz shiny red machine, you are welcome to the spoiler, if you bring a replacement standard, or version r spoiler in matching condition red.

Hi guys. I'm taking rear spoiler off the list, or rather re-list it as a different item. It's a regular repainted GP version R wing, not made of carbon. Don't ask, it's a long and rather embarrassing story :idiot: Sorry for misleading some of you.
