Agent s: Car stolen last night

Postby CJ » Wed Jul 06, 2005 1:05 pm

Guys, I just got off the phone from Agent s, I was sorry to hear that her FTO was stolen last night :( It was taken from the Sandyford area, the alarm and immobilisor where bypassed somehow, there are no leads at present. Please keep your eyes peeled for a spoilerless manual silver GR is in standard form, reg. no 95 C 15357.

Shes only had the car a couple of months so you can imagine how she's feeling, we're thinking of you Agent s!

Oh no you poor thing
I hope it works out ok in the end.

Thieving scum, gets me so frustrated that people do this. I've already had the tyres slashed and a side window smashed in after 4 months, so almost know how it feels.

Like all on the site here, will keep an eye out for it.

Let us know when you hear something

Jesus, that is a scumbag scumbag act.
I don't mean to hijack the post but I will be launching

http://www.CarWatch.ie

very soon making car tracking systems affordable for the Irish motoring public. No more need to pay 1,400 euro for a tracker, expect around half that!

More to follow.... and over time we can hopefully make these types of topics on the boards less common

Sorry to hear that Agent S.
Theres not many spoilerless Manual GR's knocking about so even if they've changed the plates it shouldn't be that hard to spot.
Is there anything non-standard on the car to keep an eye out for?

That really is a shame, especially for a new owner. Thieving scum  Just a very suspicious thought but when a newly purchased car is stolen, I'd wonder about the previous owner, i.e. a person who could easily have a set of keys and alarm fob. Was the car obtained from a reputable source?

That is terrible - sorry to hear that!

You have a point there Mustang, either way why would someone steal an FTO in the first place - besides it's looks and performance? Can't see how they'd use it for parts or resale as it is a fairly rare car...

Thanks CJ for putting up that post for me - I wasn't around a PC yesterday.

I'm totally gutted... not even that mad about it or anything, just gutted. Please keep a look out for it. It must be the only FTO out there in the world without alloys on it cos I hadn't changed them yet. All the original stickers were on it. & if anyone gets a chance to peer through the window (no tinting either yet) the carpet was coming away quite obviously on the left side of the passenger's footwell. Its a manual aswell, so not many of those knocking about  Worked so hard to get it & waited so long to get exactly the one I wanted. Just hope it turns up cos I really want my one back - I was so thrilled with it.

Thanks so much for all your support! Really good of you guys. Reward for anyone who gives a tip leading to me finding where it is.

Hmmm - a bare-ar5e FTO without alloys. This should be really easy for any other owner to spot. We'll keep the eyes peeled.

I saw from another post that you mentioned you were looking for your car at the airport - when my golf was stolen the garda told me that the car was probably parked up in an apartment block in the blanch area. In fact that's where they found my dad's car (which was stolen at the same time as mine) - seems like these guys park them up in these secure apartment blocks (gates on a lot of them) while they wait before moving it on.... the garda sugested I could have a look around apartment blocks out that way but I never bothered. My car was never found.......

..... I suspect yours (if not written off after a joyride) is probably destined for the UK as the FTO market is getting quite big over there - garda reckon that's where my golf ended up.

Like I said, I know how you feel and I'm really sorry for your trouble.....

Do they not have a vehicle tracking register in Ireland/UK? You can call a number in Australia and quote the Chassis number. This will tell you certain things .. a) Car reported Stolen b) Car is under finance..and how much is still left on it.

Also are FTO's targets for serious thieves?
I had assumed since their value to hotwiring difficulty ratio was quite high that its only scummy joyriders that go for them.

In which case you may find that it will turn up. *Fingers crossed*

Not that I'm aware of anyway. Would be nice if the road/car tax went to things like this instead of non car related things!

:) Thanks everyone for saying you'll look. Have a gut feeling it'll come back in one piece, but don't know whether I'm just in denial...

I know you're all great at spotting FTO's - like a homing device is attached to us or something!

Thanks again! Just want my car back and then I'll be 8)
