Caroline, use an [IMG] tag to link to your thumbnail graphic and wrap it in a [URL] tag that points the main graphic i.e.

[*url=http://www.fto-ireland.com/meets/spawell_110904/meet_spawell_110904.jpg][*img]http://www.fto-ireland.com/meets/spawell_110904/meet_spawell_110904_small.jpg[/img][/url]

Note: Remove asterices (*) from [URL] and [IMG] tags
