Anyone else ever driven one of these? Better still - anyone ever owned one?

I suggest you log the same post on jcars - much more likely to have owners who have had both.

Thanks god, he's made a decision :)
Looks the biz, big bucks though, hope you've got a few quid put away after buying your gaff and getting hitched!

hehe, I want it but not at that price

Unfortunately it't the only one I've seen for sale in ireland so I might start looking at UK prices. Obviously if all the permutations don't add up (costs, availability, servicing etc) then I'll be back on the merry-go-round. I'd still like a manual GPX/GPvR so I might check UK prices at same time as checking Elise prices.....

yea that's why all the factors have to fit - cost, insurance (which so far is reasonable), vrt etc. - lovely looking motor though......

I got an online quote of 2200 fully comp from 123.ie which is over 1,000 cheaper than QD quoted for fully comp on the FTO - I think I'd stretch to that for an Elise but I haven't tried Dave's office yet so I'm hoping that will go down more ;)

hehe, you could be right - I've been reading up on the Elise and it seems they have a lot of common faults that could make ownership a nightmare. Still a lovely looking car and a cracking drive so I'll reserve judgement for now and continue the hunt. I wonder if Adrian is bored of his s2000 yet........

I think it I won the lotto I'd end up living in a caravan but owning 100 different cars :-)

Oh sooooo not!! I was away at the weekend in Germany. Was meant to get a Z4 but they only had a CLK 230 convertible. Nice car and dripping with comfort but NOTHING to the drive of the S2000. OK, a totally different drive. All luxuries and comforts and you don;t feel a bump on the roads but was I glad to take the S2000 for a spin on Monday night when I got back!! I'd get someting like the CLK cabrio if I was old, had a bad back and a few kids but not now.

So, sorry Shane lad.....I think the S2K is here to stay! 34,000 miles on it now...only 27,000 when I got it a few months ago, especially in the recent good weather! I'm never out of it. :D :D

I saw there is a year 2000 S2K with 30,000 miles for sale in Kellys Car Centre in Wicklow... looking for 32,000 euro.

I got a great deal then!

That one (if it's the TN reg one) has no hardtop (add 4k to buy seperately) and a good few marks...driven hard from the looks of it.
