I got 164bhp at the wheels of my last FTO - worked out at 193.5BHP at the flywheel before the limiter cut in.

Depends on what calculations where applied on the day. The only absolutely accurate figure is gonna be the at the wheels figure.

Of course the best calculation of how your engine/FTO is performing is a trip down the 1/4 mile.

You should have mentioned FTO-Ireland, we've given Martin good custom over the years. The reason he doesn't want big groups is due to his experience with messing and play-acting from certain types on the Irish car enthusiast scene, I understand his point.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - search is your friend!!

i dont get it how am i loosing so much BHP through the TRANNY?
or is my fly just peaking particularly high?

like my fly RPM is higher than all the others but at the wheels im between 3 and 10bhp lower than the rest?

The figure stated on the dyno sheet isn't related to the tranmission loss alone, it includes wheels, tyres etc. A 15% loss is relatively normal in real terms, thats not too far off your figure.

I remember I had my first car RR'ed about 8 years ago. I was the same. Every bhp counted! 8) why was I 1 ft/lb of torque off my mates identical xr3i etc. It's all pub talk really. I totally understand why Martin has no interest in groups. I've been down there with him a good few times and had a unichip fitted by him to my first car too. You get lads arriving down for rolling roads with super unleaded (that they never use normally) and a bottle of octane boost, and even some industrial ethanol etc to get the couple of extra BHP for the "pub chat". lol. I'm not slagging, Im sure I was like that myself once. I'd be more interested now to see if there are any holes or dips in my torque or power curves and what the causes are. I doubt we woul dhav emore then 10 cars agreeing to go on any given day anyway, but I'd say martin would be fine if he knows its FTO-Ireland and not something else. :?:

btw d_dan, if you want those extra 2bhp I'd look at your tyre condition and more importantly the PSI your running on the day ;)
