Sticky Clutch

Postby Marie » Thu Jun 04, 2009 10:26 am

Ok so deep down I know it's on the way out but for town driving it's totally fine, never sticks, well find it hard sometimes to get her into first gear! But other than that it's fine.

Went to Doonbeg at the weekend, Andrew point blank refused to drive my car because it was going nut's Rev counter was on acid, Screaming for a sixth gear! I still say it was his driving but deep down I know she's sick all the signs are there!
Nct is due at the end of the summer, can't believe it's come round so fast, know it's going to hurt my pocket to get her through :(

You sure it's the clutch, and not the gearbox?

The revs rising inproportionally to road speed points towards a knackered clutch i.e slipping. difficulty selecting one or more gears could well be worn synchro mesh on the respective gears. Don't despair. Address the clutch first if funds are tight and see how you get on. Funds permitting, would be best to fit a recon gearbox and new clutch. two birds with one stone.
I need two recon rear calipers. Ah the trials and tribulations of FTO ownership
