FTO interior

Postby baldtyres » Thu Oct 12, 2006 12:35 am

Always wondered did whoever designed the FTO bring his blind mate in to design the interior - The overall shape is still pretty cool 12 years on. I reckon it set a style for a lot of the coupes on the market today, I have no doubt Aston Martin's recent designer threw a few admiring glances it's way!
Now that I've been pricing all the accessories to spruce up the interior, I cant help but suspect Mitsu had a pre-conceived notion of aftersales extras as those Japanese boys like to pimp their rides in a big way.
(I'm well aware most of the extra bling isn't bought through Mitsubishi)

Anyone throw an opinion on this subject.....god knows you could throw up a pizza on the seat upholstery and only the smell would give it away!

The dash & interior seems to be 'typical' jap bland black plastics but all I've really done on the dash is put on aluminium dial rings and needle cups and it made a huge difference (imho).

Seats are v old skewl alright, nothing a leather(ette) retrim doesn't put very right though!

Its painted with A34 steel silver to match the car ;) I originally sprayed the centre console but wan't happy with the shade of silver. When I was getting some body work undertaken, I ripped out the bits I wanted spraying and the panal beater sorted them out for me. Its very easy to do - just remove the bits, sand down to key the surface, plastic primer, a few coats of paint and then some clear laquer if you prefer - works a treat.

have to say me mats look terific, am very reluctant to get any dirt on them and might buy slippers ( driver and passenger side)

so if you want to ride you take off your shoes and wear me slippers, lol, christ how pathetic is that

MyfeckinFTO's interior

Postby baldtyres » Sat Oct 14, 2006 12:40 pm

I like that interior - colours are similar to what I have in mind - that's probably the 'blaa' in me.
Probably obvious but are they completely new seats or reupholstered modifications, are the rear seats the same, is the centre console sprayed or are they available to buy in other colours?

It's easy do the spray jobs on the interior, and there are without a doubt a plenty of interior options to look at when doing it up. The thing is to be tastful and not go too mad with the spray can and fluffy Dice....

I got it on eBay :-)

Had looked at similar ones - different brand - from the states, even found a few knocking about in France.

The Brand I was looking at was Innovatek - however I ended up ordering from a company called LM - similar spec, but lower price.

Imagine my surprise when it turned out the Innovatek is just a rebadged LM. Happy faces all around!

I cant remember the modelnumber of mine - but it's the one that Plays DivX and comes with the 6disc dvd changer.

Here's a link to a reseller.

http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_you ... M-7508.htm

You can almost always find these yokes cheaper on eBay - and if you buy from one of the larger Hong Kong sellers there's even a degree of support if things get a bit iffy. (got a partial refund due to the wrong model being sent - so I got better spec & I got money back).[/quote]
