Starter motor?

Postby optical illusion » Mon Mar 23, 2009 8:44 pm

Had a bit of a search around... seems I may have starter motor issues...

9 times out of 10 it starts fine, then the odd time it takes a while turning before it engages, or, it sounds like it's slowly dying as if no battery getting to it (new battery, fuel pump, recent service btw) in saying that it always does engage in the end.

Do you reckon its the starter, the whole thing on camskill seems a bit ghey what with only getting a refurb and then having to send yours back etc...

Anyone know anyone reasonable in Limerick or nearby?

Sounds like a worn bush on the starter alright. I have one that needs to be recond at the mo, tempted to try it myself (should have a source of bushes) but never did it before so a dodgy one.

This has started again sinced the colder weather has been coming in, turn really slowly and sound horrible before engaging. I think I'll have to give in and get someone to look at it.

It wouldn't have anything to do with my immobiliser would it. For the first time ever recently the car wouldn't start at all, just turn the key and no turning, just 'click' (HATE that noice!)

Got out, turned the alarm on for a minute, turned it off, got in and hey presto, car starts perfect.

Nah, I seriously doubt it's an alarm issue.
