emailed me this... I believe it alright, its nuts out there now.
Driving home yesterday, 4 scumbag boy racers in car behind us, tried the usual stuff - driving right up to the bumper, full headlights, trying to overtake, narrow road, eventually started to pass us & BANG - they fcuked a rock or something at the car while passing & tore off!! Was well pi$$ed off so followed them, spotted them pulled in a few miles later, so we got number of car & drove off, pulled over & range gards, while on phone they passed again and fired at car with air gun!!! Can you belive that sh1t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow - that's a lot of offenses right there..
Either they are really really stupid - or it's a stolen car.

Actually I stand corrected. It was just outside Clarinbridge. 10 miles from galway. The gardai just told him the car was registered in Thurles and he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thats it!
FFS... anyway as you can imagine, he is Very F annoyed he did not confront them and feels weak now. I'm just wondering how many of you would chase down a car with 4 or 5 youths in it and confront them if they threw a stone at your FTO. I'd need to think about it to be honest. Especially if my GF was with me and just 2 of us. If I had 3 buddies in the car its different.
I also know some friends who are total headers and would have pulled across the road in front of these lads and got a wheel brace from the boot.
I suppose it depends on what your like personally.

Bettetr off not to confront them, makes your case against them a lot stronger. You don't want to be the one who ends up being prosecuted.

I am willing to bet the car was stolen. They would not have the guts to do anything like that in a traceable vehicle.

I wouldn't confront them if it's avoidable..for a few reasons.
1. I'm not a big lad and it's been a while since I've doing anything that involved lobbing people about the place.. so 4 on 1 doesn't sound like good odds unless you're chuck norris or BA.
2. Even if I was to beat the odds if one of the scummers had the clarity of mind to take my number or anything else tracable to me I could be done for assault.
3. It's just not worth it.. one of them could have a knife, a screwdriver what ever - and stab the bejesus out of me..

Good feedback lads. I am of the same mind and told him so. No point in putting yourself at risk. ever. just not worth it these days when you can almost be certain young hoods will be tooled up with something, be it a screwdriver or a blade, or worse.

The garda telling him he was just in the wrong place in the wrong time tough luck is just completely unacceptable!! That could have caused a major accident, and they've probably done it to every car they passed that evening.
I'd be getting the number of the garda involved and talking to his boss I think, ridiculous, they have the reg of the car, know exactly where its registered and still won't at least call to their house and give them a warning... unbelievable.
Brings home the realisation that if anything happens to you your on your own though, doesn't it! the Gardai aren't much use to you.

What did he call?
Personally I would have called 999. Calls are recorded.

999 when they threw the rock. 999 again after they 'fired' at us. I can't believe I am writing this. Were transferred to station in Galway city because the new 2 million pound station in Oranmore, 5 miles from us, does not open on Sundays - LOL. Look like we have to go in to city station to make a formal complaint before they will do anything.

that's nuts! Absolutely nuts..
as far as I know when you file a formal complaint the person being complained about is actually entitled to know who's complaining...
great way to avoid work for guards..

Heh, yeah the courts system here is designed to protect criminals.
"I call forth the witness
Insert Name Here residing at the address of
insert address here to tell us about the murder he witnessed comitted by
insert major crime boss here"
"You dont wish to testify? Whyever not?"

I would give Gerry Ryan a call and air my views on national airwaves and aspecially how useless and unhelpful the gardai involved were.

That is an absolute disgrace. It's no wonder many of our streets are no go areas. I just wonder how long it's going to be before someone in a position of power gets the balls to take on crime in this country, before people get so sick of it that they do it themsleves?
I agree with all of the above, it would have been foolish and dangerous to confront these types of scumbags, a friend of my son got stabbed in the eye last night in Dublin, just out with a couple of friends - and got hoped on in a pub!
It might do no harm to go with Steelroe's idea and give Gerry Ryan
or Liveline 'Who’s Yer Sexy Joe?'
a ring.

I personally have a bit of a vigilanty attitude and I think if the odds are even you should definitely show these punks what you're made of. People in Ireland look the other way too often and that combined with the crap Gardai seems to be leading to a breakdown in society.
Still, I'm not suggesting that you should have confronted them alone, you'd probably just have been gutted for your troubles so you did the right thing. Following them and alerting the guards is more than most would do.
Interestingly there was a woman on Gerry Ryan about ten minutes ago talking about something very similar. She was driving down a small street and a rock was thrown at her car from a house. Needless to say she was terrified.
It might be a good time to give him a bell while it's a "hot" topic.
