Moment to share with fellow car-heads

Postby adrian » Wed Oct 20, 2004 10:06 am

Just have to share it. Parked the S2000outside wortk all day yesterday and when I came back in the evening a doctor who works in the area had left his business card under the wiper with a note:

"If you are ever selling the car anytime if the future, please let me know as I would like to be first to bid."

I texted him thanking him and just to say hello and he offered me about 4K more then market price straight away! I love it too much, it's got too good a history and I waited too long for the right one so I refused but it makes owning the car even more pleasing to think people love it like I do!

OK, sharing moment over.....

Nice position to be in, even if you are not considering selling it.
I get plenty of admiring glances and complements on the FTO... no offers yet though. You'll always get some knocker or begrudger who'll come up with something like ' must be a thirsty car' 'insurance must cost a fortune' 'not much room in the boot is there', etc, etc. So it's really nice when something like this happens.
No need to put that "No tyre kickers or test pilots" add in the B&S when the time comes.....

I know, I was thinking about it but I just seems too special to me to get rid of and start again. I got loads of memorabilia with it from the ex-owner who was involved with Honda Ireland. I got the entire original dealer promo material; hard-backed books, leather covered service book and factory manual, and Japanese launch material from the year it was launched. The first newspaper report about the car in Ireland as well as a Honda S2000 watch (dealer only) and some BAR clothing and merchandise! As well as that the car had 27,000 miles on it and all the extras like silver polished kick plates, rear glass wind deflector, red leather interior, rear spoiler etc. I’d be ages finding all that again…..

Also got the hardtop for no extra… which is 4k from the factory to buy!

So, all in all…..it means waaay to much to sell for a bit of extra cash. Does that sound sad?

Best bad comment I got was:

'Jaysus! How are you expected to pull a horse cart in that?'

yea - I've always wanted to join the BarryBoys..... I could have even got CJ to make up some of his wavin pipe specials - exhuast, spoilers, skirts and of course the obligatory badly fitted bonnet vent with white mesh......

..... note heavy sarcasm

Well - you could have a bash at sorting the golf gti - All you need is to replace the engine with a 1.0 from a polo - fit the biggest, loudest and most vulgar looking backbox you can find and replace your rear discs with drum brakes (and a plastic drilled disk lookalike on top). A couple of the illuminated windscreen washers, Max Power & No Fear stickers, some chicken wire for mesh (saw this for real yesterday) and a few well placed neons should sort your car out and you'll be able to hold your head high with the majority of the Petrol station mini-meet brigades. If you haven't blown your budget on the chicken wire then go all out and get a set of massive chrome spinners (the cheaper and tackier the better). Eh Voila - your down at heel standard GTI is now a Babe Magnet (they'll all be wearing white tracksuits though).

You'll also find that you will be getting a garda escort wherever you go - handy if you're concerned about car-jackings (not that anyone will want to!)
