Alarm Sounds after battery disconnected

Every time i reconnect the battery i have an alarm which sounds in the car continually, annoying bleep. sometimes it goes off of its own accord anyone know what is is?

As a little further info may help this also happens if the battery goes flat, once recharged their is a contsant bleeping sound in the car this changes to more rythmic bleep once the car is started, it appears to have nothing to do with car alarm.
