Why use girls name for cars? or called like female

I just notice in a lot of forums, that when someone refers to a car, they said "she".

also in 60 seconds movie, all of them refers to a car as she or use girls name.

I want to know why

Same thing as with boats I think.. Male names are bad luck for vehicles..

Last car I named was my old Daihatsu - called that one "White wonder" cause I wondered how it was still driving..

Why is a ship called a She?

There is always a great deal of bustle around her
