Possibly changing my car!

Postby Dave » Tue Nov 20, 2007 12:53 pm

Well it looks like i may need to change my car... something with more seats!!!

I'm not really sure what I want but it needs more than two seats to carry an additional passenger!

Any suggestions? I don't really want to spend much more than 35K and ideally I would like to spend a lot less

cheers Maud!!

no real decent skyline's that i'm interested in out there at the moment, there's a nice GTR but it's a smidge out of my budget and i'm more thinking of getting something that is going to be a bit easier on the pocket! the lady needs a new car so i'm thinking of getting a s2000 or something and then pick her up something half decent with the 4 seats!!

Pffts, might as well buy another FTO. They're better. Ask Top Gear.

Just kidding. ;) Yeah S2000s are crap hot I think that would be a good bet. Exciting stuff!

There's plenty of room in the FTO for a a baby and/or a child seat, and the boot is fine for a pram / bag etc etc

You really don't need anything bigger, especially if the good lady will be getting a car too.

How did parents cope before car designers were good enough to invent MPV's and SUV's ?

You'd think we were giving birth to baby elephants.

Only concern should be safety I think. FTO is likely to disintegrate in a decent collision. If memory serves, one of the reasons the car was discontinued was that it failed to meet new safety laws, and Mitsi were not keen on throwing cash at it, as sales were falling anyway.

i'm driving a 350Z gwyn...

I would love to buy another FTO for the missus but she's on a provisional and wouldn't get insured on one so that's out the window unfortunately!! I am in two minds as to what to do, either way i feel the zed has to go, it is a reasonably expensive car to run, and with car tax going up yet again!! plus i feel bad driving around in my zed and the girlfriend only has a crappy little punto!!

I should be on your GF's side, just cos I'm a girl  ... but ...she's got a provisional licence! what do you want her to drive!

Sell the 350Z, get an FTO, when she pass her test AND can get sensible insurance on the FTO, sell the Punto and pass the FTO to her, and you get something else ;)

You don't seem to cut up about the prospect of giving up the Z. Has it not found a place in your heart?

It's a nice one too. They don't generally appeal to me but that one would turn my head.

ah it has found a place in my heart, no doubt about it and I know i will eventually go back to one, but at the moment I'm guaging interest! I will be majorly cut up if it goes, but it's not the most practical thing to have with a little one on the way!

Thats a really nice Zed Dave. Sorry to see you having to sell - the 2 seats are a bit of a drawback alright. Would you have any interest in exchanging for a Paj Evo? My mate is looking at Zeds/M3's at the moment and is about to sell the Paj. It would be an interesting toy to have for a while.

Wow Dave congrats. As a possible replacement. I'd go for an RX8, or possibly a honda accord Euro R. Assuming you get the asking price for the Zed, A '03 model of either of these would leave you with ~ €10k in change for nappies, prams, etc.

If I had to change for more seats it'd be something along these lines -
http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cf ... rID=772645

http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cf ... rID=779492

Or for something under the radar - http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cf ... rID=705203

Needless to say - don't expect cheaper running costs though.

Problem solved. My FTO and my GF's Laguna for your Zed.

I can't see a downside with the deal

cheers folks!! I am so undecided as to what to get, I was driving home last night and I've seen pretty much everything that has been mentioned so far and none of them have even raised an eyebrow!! It'll be a sad day getting rid of the zed that's for sure!! But I am sure that'll pass!

Any more ideas/suggestions keep em coming and if you know of anyone in the market for a tidy Zed let me know.

Oh Shane... I will be selling the carbon gear, inside, engine covers brake fluid etc, a nice polished induction pipe and a JWT pop charger in a couple of months....
