Piece of cake..
I've been keeping myself from obtaining diagnostic code for no reason for a while now
But that is an very important feature our car has.. so i decided to put it on my fingertip and extended the diagnostic page present here http://www.ftowa.com/html/workshop/workshopart07.html
Tools
1)cutter;
2)1 m of thin UTP patch wire (multifilar, not monofilar)... u'll see;
3)wet cloth;
4)screwdriver (cross + );
My approach
I did not do anything to tamper with the electric system of my car.. which is what i advise any of u who attempt this.
1) first i selected my candidates among the free dash buttons available.. spotted this:
I chose the one not in picture.. the antenna button
The procedure is the sam no matter what button u change! you must pull the wire from negative(chasis) and diagnosis pin 1 to the designated switch
further i will describe the use of antenna switch.
2)lower steering wheel
and un-mount the under steering wheel cover for ease of access to wiring and diagnosis connector
3)Remove dash clocks cover
4)Remove contacts from the antenna button
5)Inspect the integrity of the connector
6)Cut the wire. In my case i needed about that long so i can safely tape it and pull it thrum dash
7)Made first connection ... i measured before so i can connect only the switched contacts...
If u do not need antenna, you can disconnect the affected pin and only insert the Diagnostic pin1 cable there
8)Made second connection (brought negative from the close by pin) You can bring negative from chassis if u prefer.
fix in place the pulled wire and the rest with a plastic collier
9) I reconnected the switch
10) Pressed back the dash cover into the dash and connected the cable from step 7) to pin 1 diagnostic.
fix the connected wire in place by fixing it with plastic collier from the nearby cables so it wont let go accidentally
11) Tested the switch with key on
pressed
depressed
12) Mounted back the cover.
sat back and tested my 20 minutes of work :)
