VRT Assessments updated

Postby Neil » Wed Jun 01, 2005 7:53 am

I registered 2 FTO's in the last 4 days so I nearly flipped out completely when I heard that they update the depreciations on june 1st as it's 6 months into the year.
Checked it this morning and its gone down alright, by €121 - 97 manual DE3A is now €2000, whereas it was €2121 yesterday so I threw €121 down the drain over nothing, twice, which Im going to appeal (but knowing those cunts i wont get too far :x :x :x)

Handy to know though anyway if anyone else is planning on bringing anything in - check the VRT calc again today and it will be the new assessment figure.

There might be more variation in the different years aswell.

Out of curiosity, did you bring the cars in to sell on?

Thats just bad luck Neil. I too am interested in your plans (if you've willing to share them that is), you don't bring 2 FTOs into thge country for the crack! One for yourself and one to sell on perhaps?

They have indeed revised the figures downwards :) , Thanks for the info Neil, good to know. Surely the figures are revised at the start of the year aswell? Is it a twice yearly thing 1st Jan & 1st of June? Or perhaps they revise them on a quarterly basis?
BTW I'd say you have two chances of getting a refund from those cowboys :x

I got a vrt refund on the skyline they upped it €1200 between purchasing the car in Japan and collecting it in the docks (I missed the old price by a day) . I had to pay the new price but i got a refund on appeal no problem. They were quick and polite to deal with .

SB are you saying that they revised the OMSP of the car upwards?
This seems most unusual, I thought that prices would go in one direction only -down!

Lately the have been increasing the OMSP of a number of cars. These cars tend to be the ones that are being imported more and more. Looks like the revenue want to screw you even more than they already are. And the sad thing is that they are getting away with it.

€121 of a discount doesn't seem right for 6 months. Genereally a year would depreciate the car for 500-800.

Sounds a little low however - remember the drop of €121 is just on the VRT which in itself is a percentage of the value of the car. So if a car dropped in value by €500 - 30% of that = €150

Are the figures revised every six months?
