VRT on extras!?

Postby adrian » Sun Mar 12, 2006 12:34 pm

Hi all,

I am taking a jeep in from Thailand at the moment and have added a load of extras onto it. Someone said to me that the VRT may well try and charge you extra VRT on those extras. Have any of your heard anything about that??!

It's due here in 6 weeks and i don't want any suprises!

I would very much doubt it... my car inspection for VRT purposes involved opening the bonnet and showing the guy the chassis number. That was it, he couldn't have cared less what extras it did or didn't have.

The only way the VRT *might* go up would be if it was a better model but I doubt they differentiate beyond engine size.

Cork, I had to wait for some paperwork to come through from customs I think it was so once that arrived I brought it over to the VRO and paid for the VRT.

VRT of extras

Postby Neil » Sun Mar 12, 2006 11:07 pm

That is the offical line yes that they will charge for extras, but in reality no they dont.

I've been in and out several times now and the biddys doing the checking couldnt give a rats. Besides, they would have no idea what is and isnt standard on specific models anyway, and would have no way of checking.
