why thank you, no pictures as yet, still waiting on the kit to come through, should be early next week, then say another month before she's fitted and tuned! going to be booking her in for a new rear bumper and full re-spray in early new year.

Appearancewise I'd say it's a toss up between Dave and Daz - Personally I really like Daz's cause it looks lower and meaner but as Speedyboy rightly points out - when Dave get's that Turbo fitted it will surely be the best modified FTO :D

If you are thinking of featuring the FTO - why not feature a number of the forums FTO's - maybe at a rolling road day - comparing the mods on the various engines to the total power outputs. It might be one way of getting a meet together at last.

Im always on the look out for cars to feature and only ever seen
a couple in the english mags, like the flip painted one, but the FTO's i've seen here tend to be either kit and wheels or tuned and not both

It's easier to write about a car if there are more mods done, so i was wondering what was out there, that i might have missed, we'd be more
than happy to cover an FTO-Ireland event, if good numbers are guaranteed and someone brings some soup, cos for some reason every single rolling road i've gone to its been freezing :)

i'm keen to see what Dave will come up with in 6 months time

regards

Welcome Darren, your point about FTOs being either all show or all go and not both stems from the fact that the most FTOs on Irish roads are V6 engined and come out of the factory highly tuned in terms of the engines compression ratio et al. Historically, its been inherently expensive to turbo charge GRs and GPXs, this, twinned with a lack of local expertise has dissuaded many owners from considering this route. Another point worth noting is the FTO is FWD, putting serious power thru the two front wheels also has its drawbacks. Daves company (www.splitrimsracing.com) is now an agent for RPW in Australia who produce turbo kits for the GS and GR (IIRC they were looking at developing a kit for the GPX) so I'd expect to see some take up on that front in the near future.

Put in context, it’s been a lot cheaper to kit out the car with aesthetic mods rather than performance upgrades such as forced induction, hopefully this is about to change.

You'd be more than welcome at any meet we organise in the future (watch this space!), I'll bring the soup if you bring the notepad ;)

CJ

P.S - If you havn't seen the Gallary page, check it out, its got a number of members cars listed.

i will admit, i've seen DarrenO's and it is very tasty, the kit is nicely moulded in and the paint job is very good, hence my reasoning for getting mine "touched" up.

Darren, if you're out there, I'd like to see some more detailed pics of your motor for the Gallery page, in the mean time, check out Darrens motor below, nice blending work on the skirts and the colour really shows it off. Is it a GS btw? Assuming its been lowered, the front is sitting a little higher than the rear, typical GS trait!

who's Darren O ..... I'd like to see these pictures, any chance you could forward them on?

I think MFFTO's idea of coveringa rolling road meet would be a really good idea, especially if you could get a few of the more modded cars there.

I don't mind bringing soup but I don't have an FTO any more (which wasn't that modded) but I'll bring my soon to be Revo'd but otherwise standard golf :)

That is one excellent looking FTO! Not sure the shiny silver wheels go very well with the colour, which is excellent, but its looking very well! Wouldn't mind checking out the inside, see what stuff he's done in there?

Aye, It looks really well alright - blending in the skirts looks great. Reckon it needs less fussy wheels though (like Daz'..... I really like Daz's wheels) and I'm not a huge fan of those big rear spoliers - I actually think it would look better with no spoiler (same as that white and black one that's running an Evo engine in the UK)

Oh yea, and as CJ mentioned - needs more lowering at the front.

lovely job though.

We'll we've just covered a bmw only event and have a vw event coming up shortly, so its not a problem covering an FTO only event, I wasn't aware until reading through the forums the kinda of costs and lack of
products available here, despite having a good population of FTOs in the country.

Please keep in touch regarding any FTOs you would feel worthy of a feature and would help plug the site through it and of course any events you will be holding.

cheers
