Any Painters on line?

Postby Marie » Tue Nov 11, 2008 10:39 am

Quick question, just want to know would anyone have an estimate on what the price would be to pay a profissional painter to paint a staircase?

To the same styling as the above picture?
Walnut and an off white satin finish? Stair case would be the standard size of a 3 bed house 13 steps ect...

Sorry, for going OT, but is that your own Rory? Looks like great workmanship in both the stairs and the stone work. And that timber doesn't really need much in terms of paint/varnish, it works well with the stone.

A friend of mine just got his stairs done by a Polish guy for 350-400 and it is a good quality job.
I reckon its a buyers matket out there at the moment and dont be afraid to insult by bargaining hard.

Yes Tom that is thwe stairs in my own place, have been threatening for alomost 2 years now to finish it, must get it done before X-mas. Doesnt need a lot of work but time is teh problem.

I was make by a local carpenter 5.5K all in flooring included and we were well happy with the quality opf the work.

In my old house we had the hall, kitchen, stairs and landing painted for 300 euro - romanian guy who had done work for the in-laws before. From what I've heard you'll get much better value for money that way and the workmanship was top notch.

I thought it was a joke when I heard the price at first, as I paid €2000 euro to paint the full house, wall's roof skirting doors door frames ect, all that was left to paint was the stairs, so I was quite taking back, when he said €700 for just the stairs!!! When he has done the entire house for €2000
I'd have thought then since he already got €2k from me, the price for the stairs would be pretty reasonable.
