RED!

Postby brccrx » Fri Apr 11, 2014 12:20 am

Time come to look after the RED project a little bit.
Car seem very slow sounded no where near good and made quite crappy result on dyno test

I had upgrades in plan anyway so pulled literally the whole exhaust of the car today to get the full stainless steel one fitted:

Wasnt expecting to find anything unusual but hell this is some thing U dont see to often!

Will dyno it tomorrow with S/S down pipes, decat and cat back

Stay tuned :)

Exhaust sealer gunk? That'll be the cause of crap results, blocking the flow eh?

She go good now That blockage in the exhaust was defo part of the problem, and upgrading the exhaust brought the life back to the engine!

After the first run ive sticked in ITG panel filter to the stock airbox and did another run, very interesting the results are. Then i did changes again and a few pulls to see what make the biggest improvement, Some parts of the exhaust made big improvement some didn't do anything, something else did completely different changes than expected lol.

Im really happy that ive done all that testing so now its easier to chose exhaust mods for 6A12 Mivec.

Now the rest of the bolt on's left to test out and i'll dyno the car every time theres something changed!

Also I'll be requesting anyone who'll get the results from me to not to share it further!

What more :) any members interested in dyno his FTO on the road with before and after results free of any charge pm me (ie exhaust or intake upgrades vs your stock)

A few days ago had a busy day, got the stock throttle body cleaned and polished with fine grade sand paper and added throttle body coolant bypass.
I was always wondering what addition is that lill mod and finally i got the answer does it really work or not, or does it actually cause looses or it does feck all.

Next on my list was 64mm throttle body, so ive bolt that in and did another dyno run to check what gains/looses is having a bigger tb on N/A carski.
Good to know what actually does or what doesnt work!

After having some more fun with tuning up the V6 i got to the harder part!

Playing with the beast i got some knock when the air delivered gets to hot, the ECU basically retard the timing and switch me to low octane maps limiting what i can do.
Shes perfectly fine when she gets a few degree colder air, zero knock (i get an odd one or two counts trough the whole run, but thats all)

Looking at the stock air intake i realized theres a chance to get the air injected instead of being sucked in to speed up the air travel speed.

Small change:

Blanked the side entrance:

First time im my life ive done plastic welding and it came up quite well:

Right so the biatch dared to do epic NCT fail 2 but in all fairness im happy that she did :)

I have to replace:

2 rear callipers!
2 rear discs!
3 brake lines (i'll go for all 4 new once im at it).
Set of new rear pads
Hanbrake cable
Catalytic converter
Lambda
Rear ARB bushes
new wiper blades

and many more.......either related to the NCT or upgrades like gearbox/flywheel/clutch swap
Also all 4 cams :!: :!: :!: need replacement and i want to do timing belt kit and water pump once i'll be at the cams.

Also when petrol tank will be out to get access to the rear passo side brake line, i'll respray the petrol tank and part of chassis that under it.

Next time You'll see me on the site it will be next year hahahahah

Nice work on the rustproofing.that looks a treat :D
Looks like you have a lot of work on your hands before the next nct tho! Look forward to seeing the finished product!
On another note, why do you have to replace the camshafts? Would be very suprised if they had that much wear? Tvr's tuscan is terrible for going through cams

They are worn the worst i ever seen to be honest, part of the reason (if not main cause) for my emissions fail.

The lobes are worn like 2 mm in some of them

Now that's a proper welding lid. Beats the crap out of those cheap ones with the dark viewing lens you get with the Lidl welder

Nice work on the undersealing Seb! What are you using, is the surface just primed on the pictures? Is the fuel tank difficult to remove - could one person do it?

Yes thats just primer on the pics, what ive done exactly was wire brush the rust, sprayed/brushed on rust converter, then another coat of rust converter, 24h drying then primer 24h waiting, primer again, 24h brake and today ive did first coat of finishing paint tomorrow next coat and i can move to next spot as its under the tank only im at lol.
You can remove the petrol tank one man no problem, as i did. Just get some empty containers to catch the petrol from fuel lines etc.

Now todays update :)

Rusty fuel lines and brake lines are out finally!

Sounds like exactly what I'll be doing except if I manage to clean part/section to bare metal I'll skip the rust convertor (got Vactan and Hydrate 80) and apply zinc primer directly. Will also be working in sections.
Just get some empty containers to catch the petrol from fuel lines etc.

Thanks for the tip! :)
