Cleaning my Wheels

Hi guys,

Me again!! God I'm a disaster haha! Not a hard question this time though! The wheels on my car have this funny sort of gunge on them (if thats the right word...) It's this kind of mossy sort of stuff. I got it washed yesterday with a power hose and all that but it hardly budged it. I quite like the FTO original wheels so wouldn't bother changing them if I could get them cleaned up and looking well. Anyone got any ideas?

I use Wonder wheels myself, good stuff. I haven't tried the resin polish though, is that for more mirror shiney wheels or for any wheels?

Any polish will do, I find it good at getting rid of ground in brake dust, make sure and grease up the elbow first!

Can I use a wire brush on them? This stuff is really stuck on I don't think thesse wheels were ever cleaned. Would a wire brush damage the paint or anything on them?

there is heavy duty wheel cleaner available. I used it on mine, but it also damaged my centre caps....

Put some Wonder Wheels on a scouring pad and scrub the bejaysus out of the rims, they'll eventually come up trumps. Make sure and wear gloves and some eye protection, this stuff is corrosive as hell. Good point by Colm - it can also de-galvinse wheel nuts, be careful where you put the stuff.
